Hey y’all, it’s your boy Matthew here. So, let me tell you a little story ’bout the time I had to replace the oil pressure sensor on my 2005 Chevy Silverado.

It was a hot summer day and I had just finished up a long day of work. I decided to take my truck out for a spin to clear my head. Everything was going great, the windows were down, the music was blasting and the wind was blowing through my hair (or what’s left of it).

I was cruising down the highway, feeling like a king of the road, when all of a sudden, my truck starts making this loud, annoying noise.

I pull over to the side of the road, pop the hood and low and behold, my oil pressure sensor had gone kaput.

I had no idea where that little bugger was located. I mean, I had worked on cars before, but this was my first time working on a Chevy Silverado.

I remembered my buddy, Joe, telling me once that Chevy Silverados have the oil pressure sensor located on the back of the engine, near the oil filter.

So, I crawled under my truck and sure enough, there it was. I was able to replace it in no time and was back on the road in no time, feeling like a real mechanic.

So, if you ever find yourself in the same predicament as me, don’t panic, the oil pressure sensor on a 2005 Chevy Silverado is located on the back of the engine, near the oil filter. It’s a pretty simple job, even for a novice like myself.

Here’s what you’re gonna need to replace that pesky oil pressure sensor:

First thing’s first, you’re gonna wanna make sure your truck is parked on level ground and the engine is cool to the touch. Safety first, y’all!

Next, you’re gonna wanna locate the oil filter. It’s usually located on the back of the engine, near the firewall.

Once you’ve found it, use your socket wrench to remove the oil filter. Make sure you have your oil drain pan handy, ’cause oil is gonna come pouring out.

Getting the Job Done
